Indigenous Heritage Month, CasaTiaLuna@Mills, and Ethnic Studies  presents . . .

Holding the Form: In Solidarity with Indigenous People, featuring the Wakan Wiya Two Spirit Drum

Weds Nov 10 @ 12pm | Adams Plaza (Rain Location: Student Union)
Join Elder in Residence, Pat St. Onge (ETHS), and drumkeeper Zamora (RGSS), in a special afternoon circle. All students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to sit at the big drum, where we will learn about drumming as an Indigenous wellness practice, a form of medicine. The drum will help us hold space for our own envisioning of our future, our work, our intentions/prayers for ourselves, our familias, and our communities. In “holding the form” together, we will also examine how we are connected to Native peoples, and put down our tobacco/prayers and commitments to aligning ourselves with Indigenous people of this land, Huicin, in the unceded territory of the Ohlone people. Please also join us Wednesday evening for our Indigenous Heritage Month Dinner and Kickoff. Dinner served from 5-7:30 at the Tea SHop, with seating in the Student Union, and short program at 6:15pm.

Mills College Indigenous Heritage Month is organized by the planning committee of staff, faculty and students, including The Indigenous Women’s Alliance (IWA), CasaTiaLuna@Mills, and the Ethnic Studies Program.
